Flight mode

I always switch my phone to Flight Mode when I go to bed and while I charge my phone. I will be upgrading to the GS3 in a couple of weeks, but I have noticed that to switch on Flight Mode you have to access the Settings and then go into More Settings and then check a box. I am surprised that Flight Mode is not one of the options available from the notification bar along with GPS, Wifi, Bluetooth etc. Interestingly there is instead an option for Driving Mode - what does this do?
Is there any way to get Flight Mode added to the notification bar options?

Just hold the power button for a few seconds, you have the option to go into flight mode.

Aha! I had forgotten that I can do the same on my HTC Desire - but I never use that method as I have the Extended Controls widget which takes care of this. Thanks for the reply.

There's an app called widgetsoid that can be used to put shortcuts to every option you can think of in the notification bar.
