First let me say that this was my first foray into Android..Still, I am less than happy with this tablet..first I did a full charge...then established link with my wireless..bought a 4GB mini SD card and installed it...downloaded a few apps and tried to run a Youtube Video...dragged, froze same with music..dont know if that is the norm for this thing but I expected better..
Recently, I thought maybe I should go back to factory reset and give it a new start. Turned off the machine, then pressed the power button along with the menu button and the big round button off to the right side and the face of the tablet (cant remember the name). anyway, said it was restoring and waited til it got back to the desktop...I noticed that the time was still correct. then went to the wifi connections and tried to re-establish my wifi connection..turned on the wifi, and it scanned and showed my wireless network, connected then dropped it..Was right by the router so no weak connection..Has my link as (Name)Disabled, secured with WPA/WPA2 PSK..and the wifi connection disconnected. There is nothing wrong with the wifi as that is how I am communicating via a laptop in another part of the house..So, first question..why wont it let me establish a wifi connection and I also tried with the ethernet...wouldnt let me do that either??? Then once that is sorted out, why the crappy vid stream with 46Mbps download and 4.6 Mbps upload connection

Well for my facepad youtube videos through the actual youtube application work fine but I never tried to play them through the web browse. I did play though through my opera browse other steam videos (many do not work but some do) and I never had a problem. I have through to say I never ever used my facepad with the stock firmware. I installed Tim's firmware as soon as I turned the pad on.

Thanks for answering..just found the thread on Tims firmware and installed the update...however, since doing the factory reset..am unable to connect Wifi or ethernet..it scans finds the secure connections..I ask it to connect. it does then says disabled then disconnects...nothing wrong with the secure wifi as I am using it now on my laptop

Sadly I never checked it with any security for my connection as I am using a Mac Address rules. Have you tried though to turn off the security and see if it connects at all on a non protected network?

No I havent, but wouldnt explain why the wifi was working perfect 5 mins before I did the reset back to factory or why the ethernet cable wasnt being recognized either..thanks for answering..anyother ideas????? As I mentioned earlier, I dont think it did a complete reset back to square 1 as the times remained correct/time zone as well..it almost seems that the drivers for the wifi or internet connections didnt load properly or something...I was wandering all over the house yesterday and it was a good wifi connection..today when it seen it other than standing directly by it, it was only showing fair..

Solved the wifi problem...when i clicked on my secure wireless network..I asked it to FORGET...then re-entered the password, now all is good to go...
another query...I seen a post on here about Tims update...Went to the site, downloaded the zip, opened the zip to a file on my computer desktop...pluged the mini sd card into the computer..deleted any files on it...copied the two files from the Tim update to the mini card, put the card into the tablet then turned the tablet on...I got an update on the screen,, waited for it to finish, now I just went to the Android version and notice it is the same version as it was prior to update..should theversion number change...How do I know if the update took...once that is sorted out, woujld like to get rid of the Shanghi temp etc on main page

You can tell by the new icons on the desktop, and by the boot animation. Tim's uses the blue android with the ring around it. You will have G-script icons for reboot, shutdown, wifi fix. But the version number won't change.

Just played some vids on the Youtube app which would load before I did the reset and the (hopefully) tims update...played great...
