Flytouch gets a worthy processor...

... too little too late?

I was just checking out CG and they have a Flytouch 5 out with the Cortex A8. People still need to watch out for the ones that say FT5 but still have the x220 processor.

The A8 is a nice processor but is it enough to justify a new purchase?

Personally I would have liked to have seen something with a little more power. Looking around the different forums it seems the fire is burning out under the Flytouch. Do you think this is a start in the right direction to bring it back?

I've enjoyed my time with the FT3, don't regret it one bit, learned a lot (along with my phone ofc) and was happy with my choice. I really didn't like any of the two 7 inch models I had previously - dear me they were truly rubbish.

My next tab will have to have full android market support, be multi tasking and totally scrollable left & right as well as up & down, and allow multi programmes to be open and scaled down (or just mini windows of each process) at the same time, be able to use multi touch and using forefinger & thumb to be able zoom in & out of the mini windows I have open, or expand on the item I am reading etc. I don't want to be opening & closing apps - I want them all visible in separate panes as I scroll through. I'm not a gamer so the latest greatest games in super fantastic fps mode and HD really don't bother me :D

Do I really need the hassle of multiple choices of tab factories creating different models again, no thanks :p :)

Will I buy from China again - quite possibly so, if they have the product I am looking for. I'd quite like to be ahead of the game the next time though - not playing catchup.

So - China tabs will always be playing catchup I suppose, and if it does what I want it to do then fine, I'll consider it, if it doesn't do what I want it to do, then I couldn't care less what is inside or how much it costs :)

I also love custom ROMs (hence my choice of phone), so the more open it is - the better imo.

The real problem will be google closing its doors to open source and thus preventing devs from doing what they do best - this is the biggest factor this year imo.

It's funny I have gone back to 7" from 10" because I just liked the compact feel better. I do agree though a majority of the 7" pads out there until recently weren;t the greatest, but the cost made them doable.

If google stops open source it will really depend on the rom devs on whter or not they will continue. Closed source hasn't stopped other devs, it will just be called hacking instead of modding LOL.

I am keeping my eye on Skytex. As a new US based company they have a lot of potential if they keep developing new products. I wish their first big pad had been Android instead of Win 7.

I still have no issue buying fom China either. The bottom line is the best deal for the buck.
