Help FM Radio app will not work with Blue Tooth wireless headphones

Hello, my wife and I just got Droid X phones, and she uses the FM Radio app (preinstalled on the phone) with wired headphones at the gym to tune to a local FM station and listen to the broadcast on the TV while she is on a cardio machine. I got her Blue Tooth wireless headphones as a gift, but the FM Radio app REQUIRES (I don't understand why) you to plug in headphones to use it, so she can't use it with the wireless headphones. I cannot find another app out there that uses the FM tuner on the phone so you can manually tune to a local station. They all link to internet radio. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks, Josh

Welcome... the reason you have to have something plugged into the headset jack is because the phone uses that as an antenna. This works the same for a pair of headphones or an auxiliary cable(if you want speaker sound)

Thanks, I completely forgot that the headphone wires act as an antenna. So I plugged an extender cable into the headset jack on the Droid X, and the FM Radio came on. Unfortunately, the app will only send sound to the headphone jack output or the phone's speaker output. It will still not send sound to the wireless Blue Tooth headphones. Do you know of any other app that will allow you to tune to an FM station?

Welcome to the Android Forums!

Try TuneIn Radio...

TuneIn Radio - Android app on AppBrain

It's an Internet radio app (uses data) but has access to many different radio stations. Maybe it'll have one in your area...

That's a good radio, bit the guy just said he's not looking for an internet radio app.

I don't think there is anything at this time that will allow you to play radio over Bluetooth except getting new Bluetooth headphones. I remember seeing Bluetooth headsets that connect onto the 3.5 mm audio. Those are a bit outdated now, but if you find them, they'll work.

You need A2DP BT headsets to hear apps that play thru the media speaker. I'm going to assume that the FM radio plays thru the media speaker, so will only play thru an A2DP-compatible bt headsets.

TuneIn Radio plays thru mine.

i just learned the same thing. i'm an fm fan but can't use the s9 hd headphones? this is just plain wrong. i get they need the antenna but why can't you route the sound to the wireless? the technology seems so simple considering how much these phones do. i'm really disappointed with this shortsightedness.
i will look for a radio station tune in radio. maybe that will work.

Been that way for at least 4 years. Media plays only thru A2DP for stereo thru a BT earpiece.

Try http://www.appbrain.com/app/super-bt-mono-froyo-free/com.steven.supermonofroyofreehttp://www.appbrain.com/app/super-bt-mono-froyo-free/com.steven.supermonofroyofree in in the Market. Free to try. Can't vouch for it as I have an A2DP BT myself.

a guy told me about 'wunder radio' that i downloaded for 7 bucks and all is well in the world. thousands of am/fm stations, sports talk raio, nascar, weather stations, marine forecasts. really incredible stuff that i love.
now my s9 hd's are worth every cent.

i notice now though how fast my battery drains when you stream music.

thanks for the feedback
