Help Fone newb needs help

Ok Sony X10, just FINALLY got the OS upgrade to work today, did the usual to it and such and so forth... just a couple of questions if i can get yer help:


How the $#!@ can i get rid of the "bubble" style text messaging without downloading an alternate SMS app?

How can i delete timescape and any and all extranious software that comes with the fone?

I started at 3 pm with 69% battery life, after OS install, 50 text messages and 5 App d/l's with data turn OFF, the battery was at 15% wtf i thought this new OS was sposed to help, took me eons to figure out how to get 1.6 to last for a few days....any tricks would be appreciated. (i only download free apps and HATE add-supported)

for deleting unwanted application in your phone, try to use titanium backup.
for the case of bubble style text i think u hv to install an alternate SMS app, im nt sure.. wait for better answer.
for the adds problem, hope u would like to download adfree application... it helps alot.

For the bubbles for the Messaging app, this can only be done by using an alternate messaging app. I use Handcent SMS for my messaging and they have a threaded option (which I like).

The only way to remove unwanted applications (like Timescape, Moxier, etc.), you must first root your phone then install Busybox from the Market, then use Titanium Backup to remove the apps (back them up first just incase you need to restore them some time). They are both free apps so no worries.

As for your battery issue, it sucks up a lot of battery installing the new OS and such and for things to settle down after installing so it makes sense that your battery went down that quickly right after updating. Removing some of the bloatware apps will help with the battery issue and then using the usual tricks to increase battery life in 1.6 will work in 2.1 as well.
