Hello there. Hope this is in the right section. Tried to search this forum and xda for info but no one seems to have the same kind of issue. First time thread here so be gentle
Info: I have a Galaxy S2. Rooted using PhilZ-cwm6 v2.7 with Touch based enhanced recovery and Root_SuperSU.0.96-Busybox.1.20.2-S2 as i recently updated to 4.0.4. I installed ROM Toolbox lite at first, thought it was a decent bit of kit so brought the full version.
Using the lite version I had changed the font, texts, apps, menu font, email - Everything worked just fine. But I didn't like the font so went back to what I had before. Tried to install another font using ROM Toolbox lite and it wouldn't install properly. I could only see the new font on the keyboard to write messages but not on the text itself. Emails was the same, on the keyboard was fine but on the message text it still used the old font. Apps would display in the old font (on the home screen) and all the menu's would display in the old text. This method as you will probably know used .ttf font to install to the phone. I searched a bit online and tried a few different apps to install the font manually (Font Changer was one, rooting required) that brought the same issue. Tried buying ROM Toolbox Pro as I thought the program might only install font correctly once, no joy.
While installing the different .ttf fonts I always rebooted then went to Settings > Display > Font Style. None of them ever showed up in there (even when it worked the once and only time, I think)
Tried a bit more googling and ended up trying another app Fontomizer (rooting not required) and that used used .apk files to install the fonts. I installed Ubuntu font and finally it worked! Displayed the correct font everywhere. Messages (keyboard and text), email (keyboard and text), apps, menu font - Everything.
Now you could just say well just use Fontomizer and .apk files then! But because i am a glutton for punishment and I wanna know why .ttf font wont work (fully) and .apk do. Plus Fontomizer didn't have the font that I liked the look of (Sony Sketch) in the first place.
If someone could help me I would appreciate it a lot.
