Root fonts on the avid

I wouldn't try rom tool box just yet. It can soft brick your phone. I would wait until there is a recovery and a deodex version of your os before messing around with fonts and modifications.

ive been using romtoolbox on my avid. so far, no problems. i changed the boot animation and have changed my fonts many times. i dunno, lucky, maybe. :o

I would just use it at your own risk. I have a rooted device on a deodex rom that I have soft bricked using rom tool box which I was able to restore. It is a great app but it is also not designed for a specific device but for android in general. It is also not OS specific either. Just my 2 cents.

oh ok thanks for the heads up guess I will wait till cwm is available for the avid thanks but it is possible for this phone to have different fonts right an also hows the progress on cwm for the avid anyone know

So far, not much progress....

Because of this post, I used ROM toolbox to change my system fonts and it worked just fine. I also used it to customize my boot screen because I can't seem to find where the files are on my phone. I use "x-plore" and its not at system/media, infact i searched the whole root folder and it won't locate bootscreen.zip

And BTW, does anyone know where to find the splash screen files so I can get rid of that annoying metro PCS splash screen when I start my phone?

It's probably something to do with the sequential .rle files that I seen in there somewhere whilst I was perusing the system files.

so you think its safe to use then

Yes, but just because it worked for me, doesn't mean it won't fudge your phone up.

Just be carefull and have backups

I wouldn't suggest it. I tried installing Emoji font through rom toolbox and resulted in my device being stuck at the Android booting screen. Downloading the update zip for ZTE hope it fixes this -.-

It will fix it, hope you had some sort of backup. I use go backup. I used titanium in the past but with the paid version of GO Backup, you can keep apps frozen.

The update zip did fix it. However, I had no direct backups but personal files were of course on SD Card so no loss, this phone is new I was hoping CWM and CM10 was available for it. It's an awesome phone. I want JB! Right now I'm using Emoji through Go SMS since installing the font directly resulted in the device not passing the "Android" screen :(
