For me Android 4.2 is a complete disaster

I have a Google Samsung Galaxy Nexus phone. It is a little over two months old and about a week ago I got the 4.2 update automatically.

When I had Jelly Bean..version 4.1 whatever, it worked smoothly, without a single issue. Since this update here have been the problems.


The phone has started rebooting...not all the time, but two or three times a day. This is very annoying, as I have been using the phone and it has just suddenly decided to reboot.

The phone refuses to keep and store my voice mail number. Now every time I have a voice mail, I have to manually key in the number. It asks to store it, and I try to get it to do that, but when it does the stupid reboot, (see above) it will then lose the number again.


My battery life has been cut by about a third. I dont know what systems this is running, but whatever it is, it eats at my already rather meager battery life.


Is there ANY way to revert to the old Jelly Bean? I dont want to go all the way back to ICS, but if this keeps up I am going to have to.

Before reverting back, have you tried a factory reset? You will have to re-setup your phone but lots of times a reset will fix problems such as this.

A factory reset puts me back at Ice Cream Sandwich...right? Thats what I figured I will have to eventually do, unless someone had a better idea.

A factory reset won't put you back to ICS at all it just means you wipe and reset your phone and reboot it. You will lose all your data unless you back it up but it often clears up bugs on the phone. The only way to get back to ICS is to root. However all the bugs you've found are well documented problems with 4.2 and its been posted all round that a 4.2.1 update is rolling out to nexus devices which will likely fix these bugs.

Just remember, if your issues are cause from a wonky software install it isn't a bug so there will be no fix released.

This may be the first thing to consider.

Have you installed a piece of software recently after the upgrade to 4.2? It may be the cause of some reboots & battery issues. One of the very few downsides of the non-approval state of the Play Store.
