For those thinking of switching to the S3...

Verizon Galaxy S3 Specs and Price: $199 (16GB) and $249 (32GB). Pre-Order Starts June 6! | The Android Soul

I know a lot of people are hot to get the S3, which is totally understandable but I think people are getting excited for the wrong reasons and should probably know exactly what they're going to get when it comes to their dream machine phone.

The main thing i'm talking about is that everyone loves the quad core... well guess what folks: The quad core processor used in the S3 is not compatible with LTE so our US version is going to have a Snapdragon S4 dual core processor (at 1.5 ghz). We also get 2GB of RAM instead of the GSM's 1GB. The screens are the same resolution, however the S3's is .15 inches bigger (less than 1/5 of an inch). You get upgraded cameras (8MP front, 1.9MP rear), still 1080p/720p respectively. Internal storage is the same at 32 gigs (if you opt for the 32 gig version). And of course a few proprietary S3 goodies (some of which have already been ported to us).

So really, you get a slightly bigger screen, slightly faster processor, double the RAM, I think the GPU is different, better cameras... and the satisfaction of owning an S3 :)

Food for thought, no quad core for us (at least US customers)... which I know was what a lot of people were excited about.

most of the specs were released several weeks ago stating the US variants would get the S4. The S4 is still a good processor and if i were looking at the S3 i wouldn't let the S4 stop me one bit. What stops me from even thinking one tiny bit about the S3 is the fact that it's made by samsung.

A buddy of mine at work has the AT&T version of the S3 that arrived yesterday (he pre-ordered). It is a NICE phone. It's smooth, fast and very sexy. I don't have envy because I'm rooted and eliminated the nav buttons in favor of the pop up buttons on LMT, but if I didn't, I'd be drooling over the S3.

I ordered one for the Mrs. the day they were available. At first she said "awe thx honey". I watched a couple video reviews with her early this week of the phone and software. Her Inc is beyond long in the tooth. Now she asks me every day "when is my new phone being delivered and how soon can we root it!" :D I'm just as excited as she to play with it! Will be interesting to compare signal, hardware, software, battery etc.. to my GN.

I think it would be a nice upgrade from the GN especially if one suffers from signal issues.

I need to find a girl that's excited about rooting her phone...

How do you know though until the VZW model gets in people's hands?

I don't hence me writing "I think"

But even if a signal issue exists for some, it might not for others, just like now with the GN. I also think the S4 chip is much faster, more efficient, runs cooler, and is a better overall CPU than what the GN has from what I read.

The screen will be nicer as many reviewers have pointed out... the "mura" is now gone from the SAMOLED in the GN. A small nit pick I've had with the oled tech in the GN.

The SGS3's audio, both speaker and voice acuity through the ear piece is said to be improved upon. Battery life has improved over the gsm GN so it looks like that could possibly translate to better life on the VZ version too. We'll know pretty soon, it's looking to be a really nice phone.

yea quad core or not its still going to be nice... my only complaint is the absence of softkeys, I love the softkeys and they make so much sense, they give you an excuse to have a bigger screen and are customizable. This way you're kinda stuck with what you got, which isn't that big of a deal but if you're a complete control customize freak such as me then it sorta is.

And I blew a bunch of money my nexus and accessories about a month ago... so I think i'll sit tight for two years, this thing already does more than I need it to.

Yea this is one area where they detoured from Google that I wished they hadn't. I love me softkeys and would rather have them on all my future phones. I don't believe this would be a deal breaker for me though if I liked the phone a lot.

The GN is an awesome device for sure. I've really enjoyed it like no other phone I've owned.

Just looking at battery life results of the dual and quad core one x....and the dual core had better battery life...

That plus what's already been mentioned.... I wouldn't dismiss the S4 chip.

We gotta look past the basics sometimes...the S4 has newer LTE hardware and the way its in the S4 should mean better battery life vs. the g nex.
