Root Force Close with CM7.1.0 RC1

I'm having a very strange force close issue that I can't figure out. I have a DINC with CM7.1.0 RC1. I tried updating to the newer rom 7.1.0 Stable but it keeps randomly rebooting my phone. I've tried installing it twice with no avail. Anyways, the force closes on RC1 are really random. My phone will be fine and then all of the sudden folder organizer, gapps, facebook, amazon app store and any apps I try to open will force close over and over again. Rebooting the phone does nothing but start the process all over again. Given enough time the problem completely stops and is fine for a few hours before starting up again. I thought it might have been a rogue app so I uninstalled most everything I've downloaded in the last few weeks and it didn't help. I tried freezing several apps in TB to see if that cleared it up but it didn't. I cleared out cache on the browser and facebook in case the internal was too bogged down and that cleared up the problem for a little while longer but then it started happening again. I cleared the cache again and the problem is still persisting. I've also moved all my big apps over to SD card in case that was a problem. I'm running out of ideas short of wiping the phone. Anyone have any ideas they care to share?

Try going through you're apps and clear data from some of the larger apps. I got major FC problems when I was running CM7 (and other AOSP roms) when the /data/data partition became full. Clearing data frees up space in that partition. Read the "low on space warning" thread in the support subsection. Same problem, only without the warning.

Thanks for the reply! I actually downloaded a program called "App Cache Cleaner" to find other programs that are taking up space and I've been running that every day for several days now to clean the cache. It's saying that I have 414.5mb available of the 748mb internal. I'm assuming doing what you are saying wouldn't be helpful since I already have a lot of available space right? It doesn't seem to be a low on space issue to me. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

The low on space bug is because the /data/data partition (where apps store private data) is only 150mb. It's separate from the 748mb apps partition.

I know there are various apps that would let you check on the space available in that partition, but honestly the easiest and quickest way to check is go hunting for data hogging apps, and clear their cache and data (clearing data will erase any saved data for that app). You could also use Root explorer, or some other root enabled file explorer to check the free space in the /data/data folder (astro, and most other file managers will not see it).

I ran into a very similar problem late last week- I upgraded from 7.03 to 7.10, and I started getting tons of force close alerts for random services and apps. I couldn't even start Titanium Backup, among other things.

I finally came across a thread that said a common cause of this behavior is a corrupted 'contacts' data file. I initially had some trouble syncing my contacts from my Google account, so I imported a VCF file that I had on my SD card. My contacts ended up a little wonky, with duplicate entries, etc, but I didn't think much of it. Apparently, importing that VCF file corrupted my contacts database.

Anyway, I went in and deleted the data for 'Contacts' and 'Contacts Storage' (making sure all of my contacts were synced with Google).

All of the sudden, it was like I had a new phone! everything has been running perfectly, and seems to be faster than ever.

Hope this helps!
