Help Forced code update causing phone problems

A week so ago AT&T pushed an update to my Atrix. I now have the following:

Android: 2.3.4
Build Number: 4.5.91

It looks like it was a MotoBlur update as a large number of things changed in the user interface. Many apps changed, and many new features/functions added. In general, all the new features are beneficial, though some of their choices in UI colors (like the Notification bar being deep blue and all the icons being a lower contrast white so they are not distinguishable) are a bone-head change.

The problem I'm having is the phone screws up calls constantly. It stays connected on the call, but will drop the audio connection. If I'm on Bluetooth it will just drop the bluetooth. On a headset it will just drop the headset and go back to handset. Or sometimes will drop audio all together. Tonight while on a call it dropped audio and started playing music from WinAmp. Though WinAmp was even jacked and alternated playing and stopping on about 1/2 second intervals and I could not stop it without causing a Force Stop on WinAmp. It did this 3 times this evening. I've rebooted many times.

Has anyone else had this update pushed at them or is operating at these software levels?

Anyone else seeing these problems?

Thanks,

Joel

This was the update to the WHOLE phone operating system to GingerBread, from FroYo and most everyone now has this version of the OS.

I've had both issues you describe, but I had them BEFORE the GingerBread update, so I don't think that's your problem.

The Bluetooth dropping back to the headset always happened to me when the charge was low on the Bluetooth headset. I never had it cut out back to the handset on a wired headset. Sounds like you have a loose connection in the wire.

WinAmp... I've tried it on several Android devices and what you describe as a problem is why I refuse to use it. Every Android device I've tired it on (2 tablets, several phones) it did just was you describe. Drop it and Pick up PowerAmp ($5 in the market and well worth it!).

As for the color changes, there is an official thread about that for those of you that don't like it. (http://androidforums.com/motorola-atrix-4g/381076-atrix-gingerbread-so-ugly-reminds-me-touchwiz.html) I find it much easier on my eyes. To me, it was a needed change, not a boneheaded one.

Thanks. I had not caught to fact that we went up to Gingerbread. That explains why so many features/functions changed and some were updated.

I see from the other string many people dislike the Notification Bar color scheme. Oh well, I don't know of any way to change that. I use LauncherPro to change the overall appearance but I got the impression the Notification Bar is pretty fixed.

As for Bluethooth dropping, that was in my car, so no low battery issue there. Not sure what's up with it, but the phone functionality has definately been flaky :(

Thanks for the reply and insight.

Just to make sure you understood, when I said the battery was low causing the BT to drop out, I meant the battery in the BT Headset, NOT the phone.

I have experienced similiar problems with disappearing icons, etc. I am also looking for help with these issues. My icons for the dialer and trash can disappeared and other icons have been added without my knowledge

The trash can only appears when you long press something. This has nothing to do with the GingerBread OS update. It's been that way as long as I can remember. I know it was that way all the way back to to 1.6.

As for the other things. I don't know of any new apps added during the update. All of the stock apps had their icons updated to new icons. So, it's possible you just think it's something new. Like how the alarm is now a rectangular icon with the clock hands on it's face, and the shape of a snooze button on top. Yet, everyone thinks its a battery with a check mark on it in the notification bar.
