Forced Updating Apps via market?

If you sideload apps or load them from a SD card, how do you get them to update automatically via market like all the apps you download and install?

Some of the paid apps I have installed still show as options to purchase, not "Installed" when I see them in Market.

I have Titanium Backup and there is an option for "Force to Android Market" and I have tried using that but it doesn't seem to do anything.

I am just wondering if there is a file or directory I can manually edit to make it check for updates of the apps I have installed but did not get directly through the Market?

BTW, DX rooted if that matters

You can install them through the market it will keep your data and just overwrite the app.

paid for once, on another phone, then backed up or saved to the SD card and installed on this new phone. I just didn't know if it was like ITunes where the apps were tied to the phone itself or the phone number or something saved to the phone in some files.

It'll back up paid apps but not free ones.

Did you try using the market doctor in Titanium Backup?

Yes, they are "tied to the phone itself or the phone number or something saved to the phone in some files". So that's why they don't update when they're on another phone.

Then why am I able to restore paid apps via TiBu when I flash a new ROM? Wouldn't that break the device verification?

So when I eventually upgrade, you're telling me that I'll lose the use of my apps, despite reentering my old gmail account into my new device?

no...i purchased picsay pro and some stupid task manager and installed them on my first mytouch. been through quite a few phones since and each time they show in the market as purchased. All you have to do is find it and install it again

It's all tied to your gmail account and only your gmail account. There are a few apps like camera 360 that are tied to the MEID (or whatever your phone calls it)

I wouldn't think so on that. You'd probably have to deal with Google directly to have them transfer purchases

@Copleo: yes, ALL my paid apps come back, every time. The only issue I've ever had was with the Swype beta, when I gave CM a try back in the summer. That app did have some type of device binding, but I've never experienced it with the Market
