Forcing Gmail to check mail.

I use Gmail to check my pop3 account and am now totally using email via Gmail and it's superb!

As you all know, Gmail checks mail at various intervals according to your traffic. If I am waiting for a particular email to my pop3 account I can go into Gmail's settings on my PC and force it to check my pop3 account.

I cannot find a way of doing this on my phone (Samsung Galaxy S2). By opening Gmail in a web browser, rather than the Gmail app, I can access the settings menu in which I can normally tell it to check my account.

However, when accessed on my phone the settings menu does not appear to have this facility and it's missing from the 'Accounts' section of the settings menu.

Does anyone know how I can force Gmail to access my pop3 account when using my phone?

Thanks.
