Forgotten password

[Android Question]

How do I unlock my Lg connect 4g metro pcs phone if I forgot my password? My phonr does not go into a screen for different options after you've done the enter code 5 times screen, it just goes into the 30 second wait window to try again. I dont want to do a master reset just yet cause too important info is in my data that only my phone has in it? Any other options available such as a software that I can download to my PC and connect phone with usb?,mind you I cant access settings in the phone yet to turn on debugging.

When you've entered the screen lock incorrectly 5 times you will be asked to wait 30 seconds
Tap Forgotten pattern at the bottom left of the screen.

Do you not get this on screen? Its fairly standard as far as I know.

Enter the username and password for your Google account - this will be the one you used when registering for Android market, or other Google services such as Gmail.
You'll then be prompted to set up a new screen lock.
