Check whats on there first. Go to the files app and look and see what you will be erasing.

If you're wiping the phone so she can start new then for sure format the memory card.
If not at worst it'll screw up an app and you'll have to uninstall it and redownload it. But I doubt that would happen. The app will just recreate whatever it needs. If the app saves any settings or personal data on the SD that would be lost, but it won't harm anything.
