On my Precedent (Prevail), you must tap on the text message first to open it (open the "thread"). Then press and hold the message you want to forward until a menu box pops up that has a "forward" option. Tap on the forward option and type the name(s) in the "to:" box. Hope this helps anyone who finds this thread when searching how to forward.
