Four SMS Text messages each time?!

I just got an HTC Evo 4G and am evaluating the various SMS messengers:

• HTC "Messages"
• GO SMS
• Handcent
• Chomp SMS

The problem is that whenever a text message arrives, I get FOUR of the same one -- one for EACH of these applications as they all want to pop-up their own message window.

How do I make ONE of them the "active" receiver and tell the other ones to stop responding?

yep, uncheck notifications for the 3 you arent using. Why are you using 4 text programs anyway?

Regarding that link, I didnt read through it all, but it sounds like you could do a lot of that by creating groups in your People (contacts) app.

And honestly, if you are doing this regularly, and with that many people, you may want to look at PC software that can do this much more easily. or sign up for a texting service so you get your own number (like you see in commercials "send a text to CLUB66 to join the group).
