Help Freakin' Metro Easy WiFi blows

This app is ruining my experience with my new LG Spirit.

Am I the only one having issues with this POS app?

Unfortunately, you cannot get rid of it like with the LG Motion.

Is there a workaround, short of Rooting?

I would Root, but I'm not familiar enough with the steps and I can't find a guide written for newbies as I'm not familiar with much of the terminology.

There is absolutely no way of getting rid of that app unless you root.

Maybe someone will eventually make a video of the process of rooting, installing recovery, and flashing a rom... Till then, you have all of us to help you the best we can to guide you through the process.

I've noticed that if I disable "GPS Satellites" in "Location Services" that "Easy WiFi" is far less finicky and WiFi doesn't have connection problems, dropped connections and runs faster.

So far, anyways.

Settings > Location Services > GPS Satellites

There is one or two You Tubers that shows it fairly clearly. Could be a bit more stupider so I could understand more fully but still pretty good.

I don't use Wifi a lot but I haven't had any issues with the App.

I frozen mine with ROM Toolbox Pro and I don't have a problem but you'll need to be rooted. If I get a chance tomorrow I'll try to make a video on how to root.

My Wifi is on at least half the day. No problems. I have Metro Easy Wifi disabled; no root. Look through the settings.

I took a quick look see thru the Spirit settings and I didn't see a way to mute it or anything else. (Unrooted)

Disable is grayed out in the App settings.

I can "Force Stop" Metro Easy WiFi, but it eventually comes back on.

No option to Uninstall or Disable like on the Motion.

As mentioned above, "Disable" is grayed and inactive.

Rooting is simple.

Go to Lg.com, find the spirit 4g. Go to support, download the usb drivers. Its just so your pc knows what phone its dealing with.

Download the root app on this forum.

Go to Settings > Dev Options > Turn on USB Debug

Then Settings > Pc connections > Charge only

Open the app you downloaded on PC. Right click and extract folder to desktop.

Click on file called Run

It will tell you to plug in phone, and then press any key.

It took me 1 try, and less than 3 minutes.

Then download Titanium Backup
Say yes to Superuser.
Then click backup tab.
Scroll to MetroPcs Easy Wifi

DELETE THAT SHIT.

Metro Easy Wifi is the ONLY reason I rooted my phone.

Do I correctly understand that one possible "benefit" to a locked bootloader is it makes it a lot harder to hard brick your phone when rooting? (But that with an unlocked BL you can build a recovery?)

(I mean, I think you still can but you gotta work at it.)

Seeing if I unnastand correctly.

Followed instructions to the letter.

Root failed.

Titanium Backup confirms "Root Access: X FAILED"

2nd attempt: Success!

D/L'd Titanium Backup and Deleted Metro Easy WiFi.

Thanks to all for your input.

I was afraid I would brick my new LG Spirit and should have done this first on my LG Motion, but it worked on the 2nd try!

Awesome! :D

Glad it went well. Welcome to the root side. lol Now you can enjoy all the root privileges. ;)

For anyone reading this thread... Rooting cannot brick your phone. All it does is give you administrative access within your phone.

Thanks again for your help.

No more issues with WiFi and browser page loading is much faster.

Man, that "Easy WiFi" app had me pulling my hair out and was causing page loads to stall to the point where I had to reboot.
