Free cell phones for welfare recipents?

But seriously do you think most of the welfare participants are going to look for a job in the first place?

Listen, I don't feel it is my place to judge. I do feel that those that want to try should be given the opportunity. I am personally undecided on whether being provided a phone should be a part of that opportunity, but the fact remains that I don't think we should just be ASSUMING that all participants just want a handout and nothing more.

As discussed earlier though, wellfare is SUPPOSED to be used mainly for the disabled or young mothers. If we get the "handouts" back on track and going to the people they are supposed to be going to in the first place, it can be a good thing.

Welfare, if it exists at all, should only go to the extremely poor and only in amounts that are necessary for them to survive. They should also be forced to be actively looking for a job, getting job training, or be in school while receiving welfare. Another less restrictive is creating generation of leeches.

This means no cell phones. You get food stamps, some spending money for clothes and essential bills and Medicaid. That's it.
