Free Data Rogers?

ok, so iv been playing around quite a bit with my phone lately, a horrible 4 hours with a mega slow computer, got my phone rooted and s-off, so now I have 2 questions. What good does having my phone rooted? And I only have pay and talk on my Phone and I wanna get free 3g internet without paying for it... I know its possible, iv seen it done. Something about putting in a certain .apn in your mobile internet settings.

help!

1. What are the perks of having a rooted Phone.

2. How do I hack free internet?

3. What does unlocking your phone do.

4. Can you have S-OFF, on a rooted and unlocked phone?

Another problem iv been having is that my WiFi won't stay connectes, it will connect, and show full connection, and after a few minutes my WiFi won't work but still shows that its connected.

I'm just going to keep asking questions until someone answers! lol, I dropped my EVO today, the screen is cracked up, it still works, and the touch still works, but the screen is dark and hard to see when its bright outside, can i just replace the plastic screen that's over the lcd

Well sorry to say, but "hacking free internet" is illegal, and therefore it is against the forum rules to discuss this.
Rooting perks would be, using special root apps, being able to fully customize or theme your phone. Over or under clock your processor, full backups with a custom recovery, and lots more I can't really think of right now. Yes you can have Soff with root and an unlocked bootloader.

Welcome to the forums.

As mentioned, we'll be having no chatter on illegal activities.

The point of root is to give you the same level of privileges as you would get on an Admin account on your PC.

Your number one admin tool, allowing backups, installs and operating system cache maintenance, is called a custom recovery.

In order to install a custom recovery, you must have an unlocked bootloader.

Getting s-off on an HTC phone means that not only is your bootloader unlocked, encrypted signature security for some options is turned off. There are several benefits to this involving installing the lowest-level components of your phone.

Tell me more? Haha, what kind of benifits, I want to get full use out of my phone, ya know
Well so far the only thing I have found with my phone that I can do with Soff is install roms much easier, and change my splash screen. I am sure there is other stuff, but I haven't come across anything else in my mods that I have done. Hopefully someone with more knowledge can tell their experiences with things that they can do with Soff that they couldn't do with Son. Also I would assume that it varies from phone to phone.

There is a part of your radio firmware that requires s-off to update.

Uses of s-off access aren't widespread and are sometimes esoteric, but when you need that access, there's no substitute.

For a good root app, I recommend DroidWall, the Android firewall.
