Hey there, there's a neat little app I found that allows you to text for free. It gives you a legitimate number too. You don't need a sim at all. 
1. Go to the Google Play Store and get the an app called "TextPlus".
2. Click on the app "TextPlus" and when it asks for your personal info, put fake information...(FOR YOUR OWN SAFTEY)
3. Text anyone in the USA or CANADA for free!
4. Have fun texting!
