Freeform on Android

Currently I'm impressed by this feature. I'd like to know:

1) Had Samsung's high-end devices adopted this feature before Google supported it in the Developer Options?

2) Is Samsung the only manufacturer who's implementing this?

2) If I wished to test Launcher3-freeform apk, could I do it via Android Studio's emulator - i.e. letting the app run on this environment?

(Incidentally, I'm approaching right now the Android development world, hence items like Android Studio and so on)

Best regards.

freeform not sure what that is. is this used in development?

It allows you to move application windows around the screen, in a similar way to a desktop window manager (grab window header and move it).
Can be enabled (on my phone, which is a Huawei model) by a setting in the developer options.

FWIW I don't have it on my Huawei Mate 10, and the Developer menu is turned on in Settings.

What version of Android is it running? I have Pie. The setting is called "Force activities to be resizeable"

Now I know what it's actually called. Yes my Mate 10, with Pie does have it.

Also see there's "Force allow apps on external storage.", that I've never noticed before. Which presumably installs apps on the SD.

Can you tell me if in your Huawei devices you can use the functionality simply enabling it in dev. Options? In my P9, this doesn't happen: It is required a third-party software, e.g. the Launcher3-freeform above mentioned. Is it possible to test this launcher with Android Studio?

In the Android Q beta I have "Enable freeform windows", in addition to "force activities to be resizeable". This suggests that "force resizeable" means force all apps to be available for multi-window while "freeform" separately enables to moveable windows. I can't tell you whether I had the freeform one in Android 9 (don't recall noticing it, but didn't go through those options often).

This is interesting, however in all tutorials it is reported that the "force" option is the designated one for activating moveable windows, and in fact all the apps of Google Play implementing the feature require the option be activated.

I really cannot imagine what the distinction "enable freeform" vs "force resizable" stands for.
