ok folks, after a lot of dithering i have finally installed 2.2 on my phone(surprisingly easy considering i was convinced i was going to brick my phone lol and it only took about 5 mins) all seems well at the moment but i seem to have lost all my contacts and apps. i did a back up with xrecovery before i started so can i get my contacts back with that. if i cant do that can i just restore my 2.1 so i can get them. one final thing, please tell me i can get rid of the god awful stock keyboard and get the htc one again. thanks

If you made a xRecovery backup of 2.1 then just make a backup of beta4 then restore 2.1, use an app like MyBackup Root to backup your contacts, apps, texts, etc. and then you can restore beta4, redownload MyBackup Root and restore all that data and you're set.
 
ok thanks, will give it a go in the morning. not that bothered about apps really but i have some important contacts that i hoped i hadnt lost

They'll still be there in your 2.1 backup so I wouldn't worry about that. Hope it all works out for you.
 
ok. had freex10 for 24 hours now and i must say im impressed. changed back and forth a few times today to try and get my phone just right lol. think i'll stick with this for now lol

Glad to hear that you are liking it. It was the first 2.2 ROM I tried out too. Though I've since moved over to Wolfbreak's CM6.1.3 ROM and I think I'll be sticking with it for a while.
 
do you not sync your contacts with google? if so wont freex10 sync with google to get your contacts?
 
Got to admit,I didnt think of that one lol. Might have been easier in the long run but all is well now anyway

For contact. You just export ur contacts to sdcard in 2.1, then import at 2.2. It works.

For application, just install my phone explorer on ur pc, connect with ur phone. Then, go to application and click on download application to ur pc for saving. After u got 2.2, just connect again and install those saved application to ur phone or copy to ur phone in sdcard for install later. It works perfectly..
