Root Freeze Issue

PMUSER

Newbie
Hey guys,

My wife has this phone and she says that pretty much every day it freezes up completely and powers down on its own after 5 minutes.

Her phone is still stock is there a specific stock app that is causing the freeze, or is it just running out of memory.

Is anyone else seeing an almost daily freeze and power off?

Thanks

Is it over heating? I used to have this problem when using 3g. It would overheat and shut it self down.

I know it happens when she is on WIFI, so I don't think its 3G that is the culprit. It seems to happen randomly which is why I suspect it is some background app or running out of memory or something like that

More info on what apps are running would help to track down the culprit. If she uses the facebook app, is pretty notorious for sucking up resources, even when it's not being used. Uninstalling the app and just using the webpage would help in that case.

If the phone is less than a year old both Virgin and LG will replace it free if charge if you call customer support. If you bought it with a protection/replacement plan you could take advantage of that as well.

Thats what I am wondering. It has been less than a year, but I wonder if it is just the specific phone that does this or if others are experiencing a complete freeze and then having to reboot.

She does use the facebook app and it is a killer, but would that cause the complete lockup and reboot?

The Elite is a complex creature, there's a lot going on in there that we don't see. It has a messy hodgepodge OS cobbled together by mad scientists in a darkened laberatory in the bowels of LG. I can't say that the facebook app is the culprit, as it's likely a combination of issues. Some Elite's are rock solid, a good number of them appear to be lemons.

If you don't want to go the rout of replacing it, I'd suggest selectively uninstalling/freezing apps to see if things get better. Without a lot of information on exactly what's going on, it's going to be a lot of trial and error figuring out where the problem is.
