FRF72 Update

this is my first time trying anything like this on my n1 =NOOB (kina) but ....pretty sure i followed the steps correctly but when i get to the flash from sd card and press trackball to confirm it says : E:no signature
E:verification failed
installation aborted

This happened to me when I was forcing FRF50 and I tried doing everything from the N1. I had to use a PC and transfer the update file via USB because for some reason when I d/l the same file directly to the N1 the file shrunk in size and would give me the above error.

I'm not sure how chaz_uk got it to work :/

EDIT: I'm also going to wait for the official OTA since this should mean that it's right around the corner... Unless someone posts something magical about the new FroYo

i suppose this version of FRF72 doesn't work with the pre-rooted version of FRF50?

i tried it and it says:
E: no signature
E: verification failed.

I originally used the FRF50 update that I downloaded from the Google link (just like this new one) when it was leaked. Then I just used this new FRF72 update and it worked just fine.

My phone is not rooted.

ok, then that's why.
your phone isn't rooted, which is why frf72 works for you.

that's all i wanted to know....i have to wait.

no big deal =]

I plan on rooting my phone when a good FroYo mod comes out... but that won't happen until the FroYo source is released, which may be another month or something.

I think I will just wait for the OTA , unless something is reported that i cant resist having

I agree.

Why would I go crazy trying to install this "new" version with very little new features and risk problems... instead of just waiting for the OTA since I already have Froyo? ;)

Well, the pure calendar widget works now which is great. I'm getting fewer force closes on apps (but I'm still getting them). Swiping between home screens is more responsive, with the original 2.2, sometimes I had to swipe 2 or 3 times before it moved to the next page.

Wasn't there supposed to be some sort of option where you could sync purchased music on your computer to your phone wirelessly??? Also the same with apps or something? Maybe in the froyo 2.2.0.0.1 version or something.

Here's a change. For the first time I was able to move some of the applications to the SD card. Was able to move Movies, the Cubed Music Player and Rainy Days to my SD card. I am pretty sure that this is something new in this version of FroYo. Let me know if anyone else noticed this.

It was my understanding the FroYo simply allowed developers to have this option as part of their programs, but not that FroYo could (by default) do it to them.

That's also my understanding. But I was not able to move these apps to the SD card a couple of weeks ago when I checked. I installed FRF72 this morning and a couple of hours later noticed that I was able to move the apps to the SD card. I don't think any of these apps have been updated recently so it could be that the developers wrote the apps with this option but it wasn't until FRF72 this this was actually able to happen. I could be wrong but I think its worth looking into it.

I don't have that ability after going to FRF72. I did have to reinstall Swype as it apparently thought it was a different device after the update. I did notice about 30 MB more of RAM to use, but no increase in my ROM space. I also think the browser is a bit faster, but that's the only things that I have noticed so far.

I've heard from multiple places about people having to reinstall Swype. I must be using a different version; I didn't have to do that.

Version 1.56.30.7625

Wi-fi isn't working and default google page is in Spanish now!!!!!!! any ideas how to go back?

bloody morning... lost my data on Desire and now this shit with Nexus...

Nope, this feature worked fine in FRF50.

Movies was movable before the update. It's developer enable. i have a number of apps already stored on the SD card:

Movies
Place Directory
ConvertPad- Unit Converter
Pandora
Jewels
Google Sky Map
Voice Recorder
Urbanspoon

that's all i've noticed so far
