Xtify has created a Push Notification Service for Android - allowing developers to push messages directly to their audience.

Messages can be sent using our webservice and can also be configured using our Campaign Manager tool.

The Xtify platform also allows you to geo-trigger notifications - you can set messaging rules based on a user's proximity to particular locations.

Check out Xtify Developer: Home to learn more about the service and SDK

Thanks!

I have an iPhone 3GS and one of the reasons I use my IM is because i didn't want to pay the $20 dollars for unlimited text that AT&T charged so thats where the push notification came in handy. With that said and I still do love my iphone but it doesn't let you know when you have emails as effectively as a blackberry does and also it did take Apple to its 3rd generation to come out with the push notification feature and they still haven't enabled skype to be used over the 3G so i don't know if you can count the fact that Android doesn't have skype against them just yet. Even though I love my iphone, I still carry a second account with sprint which I am patiently waiting for the HTC supersonic or for the possible Sprint compatible Nexus One so I can judge for myself. for me it will come down to which is better and more flexible and seeing that the iPhone will probably only be with AT&T the better plan price options for the Android phones may end up costing Apple iPhone customers.

Nimbuzz is an excellent app. Doesn't drain battery, and ties facebook, gtalk, aim, yahoo, msn, nyspace, sype, icq, and several other messengers all in one app.

And sorry about the "blasting". Fact is, recently we *have* been flooded with trolls coming in and saying "iphone iphone", so our assumptions are not unwarranted.

Hi if you JB your iPhone and install 3G unrestrictor you will be able to use Skype on ATT 3G! Then you can install Backgrounder and have Skype always running in the background (Like Android) and people will be able to call your Skype account everywhere you are.

Hi I think Nimbuzz is the best IM client for Android. Just one observation: yes you can call your Skype contacts but they don't have a dial pad so you could use your Skype Out account: I hope yhey'll fix that on their next release.

That's very interesting: I notice they are supporting N900 as well. I'm wondering if Google will come out with their own framework for Push Notification. It looks like Xtify is a geo-notification who know if you could integrate it with a non geo-sensible app.

That's great I'll do the same. Thanks for the tip!

That's my point: why should I spend time figuring out what is wrong with my

Look, Android is for people that want to tinker with their phone- customize the home screens, root, get elbow deep in the menus, learn about the OS. If there is a problem, Android users solve it. It's a geek thing, and it will always be a geek thing. Don't be fooled by the live wallpapers and flashier OS. Yes you may see more mom and pop types using Android, but at it's core, it is an open-source geekfest.

With the iPhone, you don't do anything and follow Apple. Yes, yes, there is a jailbreaking community but that is the clear minority. The majority of people I know have their iPhones stock.

The new iPhone will come out with all kinds of new features to sucker people into the worst carrier ever- don't fall for it. And don't get your hopes up for a Verizon iPhone. Not happening. You live in Manhattan? Save yourself some trouble and get an Android phone on Verizon.

this guy is getting killed.....i have both working here in front of me , a iphone 3g and a moto droid (had the droid for two days)!!

give it a chance bro all im saying i gotta make up my mind soon and i have around 3 weeks so i will givet he droid a fair chance. But after having both idk what im gonna do, the iphone feels polished and locked.

Droid feels like a JB Iphone without the 3000 probles coming with it, i love that. So far my droid has crashed like 2 times in 2 days while my girls droid has crashed once....not good. I love the droid so far just like i love the Iphone both are awesome phones great in their respective ways. I will post my problems with both.

Iphone:
1. I hate itunes WOW DO I HATE ITUNES!!!!
2. no customization options and cant run pandora and check my email!!
3. UI feels like a 5 year old friendly OS, for my mom cool...for me not so.
4. NO FLASH...WTFFFFFFFFFFF (droids on the works)
5.Iphone feels not mine since icant customisize that

Droid:
1. 2 crashes in 2 days...ummm not good
2. i have been having problems connecting to my wifi at home and my cars blue tooth.
3.feels a bit unpolished.
4. my droid is with verizon and while my iphone has full 3g my droid has one bar and its taking forever to DL things off my wifi when it dosnt give me erros
5. the moto droids camera is simply horrendoursly bad compared to that one of the iphone...shit my old school sony erricson has a better 2mp camera thna my droid does ...and thats a HUUGE turn down.

ill post the pros in a sec, but im not making a desition yet...i need to have the droid for atleast a couple weeks to make a real one...this is so far review .

Hi after a while I decided to give Nexus a shot and i did not sell it. I spent the weekend with him letting my iPhone resting.
I have to admit Android is not so bad.
The battery got better after a couple of full charging cycles: yes I did turn syncing off and I installed SEVEN a third party application that provides real time push email for Gmail, Yahoo, MSN, AOL etc etc.
I managed to keep Nimbuzz running in the background and thanks to Android Missing Sync I moved part of my music library to the Nexus.
I never experienced any crashes: actually just once I had the phone restart the live background from Grass to Nexus: that's it.
What I'm really impressed about is the speed of Tmobile 3G: when I get HDSPA it's blazing fast! Do you guys know if I can tether it with my Macbook?

Facebook is horrible: I agree. I don't mind the default browser. Although I would love to see Firefox like the version for Nokia N900.

new iphone this june? is it the same phone just another update or is it a different model and such?
According to a friend who works at apple, details on the phone are being kept under fairly tight security even at Apple. from what he could (or would) tell me the new Iphone is supposed to:

- have a better screen (don't know if it is better resolution, amoled or both)
- be thinner
- have better battery life (no clue how they'll do that with a thinner machine)
- will use microsoft Bing as default search engine (We already knew that one)

He also said that he suspects that it will be G4 capable or that such a version would come out, but he made it a point to say he was speculating on that.

He also said that he was told that there would probably be a camera on the screen side of the device so as to support video calls/chat, but didn't know if that was BS or not.

When I asked about software he either didn't know or wouldn't say.
