From iOS to android, pls help!

I recently purchased a GN2 but I have yet to open it up because I am not sure if I will stick with it so I want to keep the brand new sale value. I also have an iPhone 5 which I am looking to replace with the note but there are a few things worrying me about the switch. Maybe you guys can help...

1. I need my text messages! I have conducted so much business via text and I need my message history for later reviewing from time to time. Can I transfer this to my Note?

2. I have a Mac. Does android or Samsung have any software comparable to iTunes that would make syncing a breeze? I don't deal with the cloud stuff, just looking to get my photos and other media to my phone.

3. Have devs figured out a way to use iMessage on android? I know of other apps but I would like to use iMessage specifically because of the amount of contacts that use it.

4. Emoji?

5. This isn't about software, but I am a fan of otterbox and I haven't seen or for the note. Any word?

Any help is appreciated.

I switched from an Iphone 4s to the OG note and I love android so much more. IOS is simple and it works but its very limited.
1. I need my text messages! I have conducted so much business via text and I need my message history for later reviewing from time to time. Can I transfer this to my Note? When i switched from my 4S to the Note some of my texts went over and some did not. So I can't confirm they would.

I use Isyncr to transfer all my music and videos from itunes. iSyncr

Not to sure about this but I think imessage is for IOS only.
4. Emoji? Yes, but if you are texting someone with an Iphone, in my experience they show up different (i.e :p on ios :P)

5. This isn't about software, but I am a fan of otterbox and I haven't seen or for the note. Any word? ATT shows the case is ready now but wont ship for 14 days. OtterBox

Hi, hopefully I can help on a couple of points.

Q1. I have no experience with iOS but is there no back up application that will sync all your texts to an email account? Android has a few SMS BackUp+ this will sync all my SM, MMS and Call Logs to my google email account. Also GO SMS Pro will back up your messages to a file. So that when I switched phones my messages were imported onto my new phone.

As for transferring from iOS to Android I'm not so sure. Sorry.

Q2. As for Syncing since your phone and any external SD card sre sown on your computer when you plug it in via a USB cable it makes the requirement for software to sync fairly redundant. There is Samsung Kies but I've really not had the need to use it. My music can be quickly copied over to my External SD card and PowerAmp immediately realises that new music is there. Photos the same the Gallery App will find them straight away.

Q3. Not sure but a search in Google Play store should soon give you an answer.

Regards

you can send the un-open box Note2 back to where you got it for a full refund.

with what is important to you... i think you should stick with iphone 5.

if you want to go with the Note2/android... there will be a change and loss of the old info and way of doing things. you can either be OK and accept it.. move forward and find new and better things. or NOT and stay with what is important to you. if you can not accept the change then you will be NOT happy, which is a waist of time and money for you!

if change, you need to accept that you will loose some old SMS messages on the new device. I think they can be backup to the apple cloud, so that at least there is a place that you can refer back to.

imessage.. is out.. it can not be used outside of apple.

I have just made the switch six days ago.
I have everything available. Pictures, music and address book.
However text messages is another matter.
Frankly you may have this problem even if you transfer to any phone. May I suggest to find a second back up for your txt messages as you are a hostage to Apples fortunes and that is IMO a business risk too far.

I would assume there has to be a way to back up IOS text messages. try this:
Move and Transfer SMS Text from iPhone to Android (Export Import Msgs)

Lifesaver, thanks. I switched from Apple because it was boring. Yes it took care of my needs efficiently, but my inner-geek is always left craving more!

Glad it worked! Boredom is my middle name! Sillyrabbitt gets into trouble when bored. i know what you mean!

enjoy that sweet new phone [for a while anyway] :)
