Just installed the 2.2 update on my Galaxy S ( Bell ) phone. Kies program completed, phone rebooted but didn't turn on. Samsung startup display plays, then screen goes blank. Settings and return keys stay on.

Whatttttttttt'sssssss up????????:(

You guys get 2.2? Nice. I'd start by pulling the battery for a minute. Put it back in and power on...same problem?

If trouble continues I'd suggest reflashing the phone. You did back up first, yes?

Also...is it a true Vibrant or the International version, the I9000?

Just checked with Samsung and they suggested I take the phone to Bell. Went to Bell and they said there was nothing wrong with the phone. Lucky me........but what all you 2.2 update downloaders should know is the following.

The 2.2 file is so big it may take the phone 20 to 30 minutes to do a complete installation. During the update you will see the Samsung logo only. So don't worry, give it time to install and don't be like me and think there is something wrong with the phone.

So you're up and running now?

This same thing happened to me today. However, this is three days after installing the 2.2 update. I powered off my phone for an exam this morning and it would not power up after.

It goes to the samsung boot screen and then flips to a blank screen. It continues this pattern continuously and does not correct itself during a battery pull.

I have the Bell Vibrant.

Same problem as rjbox, but I think its because I rebooted my phone partway during the installation as I wasn't sure if it hanged.

Now when I startup I get the same bootscreen that flickers on and off, can only get to the downloadscreen with volume down+home+power. Factory reset with volume up+home+power doesn't work. I'm also with Bell.

Any solutions?

Just keep your phone on, don't panic ( blank screen two lower icons stay lit ) and it will come to life on it's own. As I said it need up to 30 minutes to do a complete install. That's what happened to my Bell Vibrant and I'm now 100%, and lov'n it.................:)

Is this the fried microSD card issue from the other thread maybe?

That's what mine was anyways when it did the same black screen thing. Try going into recovery mode and see if your microSD is mounting. (power + home + vol up). If it isn't then your phone is bricked and you'll have to return it for repairs.

It happened, within a few days my phone started getting system error messages. Then it completely bricked on me. Now it will take 2 to 3 weeks to get the phone back from Samsung. Darn.........................
