Froyo KIES update progress reports

i followed this says their is an update, keis updates tghe phone going into download mode then when reeboots no 2.2 just same 2.1 had a suggestion to hard reset but phonw wont go into bootloader

Those who have updated without registry hacks etc....did the update wipe your phone like other updates have done?

I did the reg hack and although it worked fine ,the new software is a bit temperamental, the market place fails to load at least once in three or four times that you try to open it, navigation has force closed on me a couple of times or failed to start, facebook app did not work at all initially but seems ok now after a reinstall. I wonder if it's been pulled down because of issues?

I just updated to Froyo with reg crack in china.
Here is the problems:

- Push mail working very slow,
- All phone application works a little slow, such as opening keypad, entering settings, opening a new app...

If you get a slow phone after updating I suggest you do a factory reset on your phone. Actually, I would recommend that every time you upgrade to a new Android version, just as I would recommend formatting your disk when upgrading to a new Windows on your PC.

My JP6 was very fast (threw in the Voodoo fix anyway and now it's just flying away) and everything works as it should, except one thing. My battery consumption has increased a lot, which mainly seems to be that the sceen is much more power hungry now. I won't be able to go two days with everything on and medium usage as I used to so hopefully they can fix this.

sorry for the noobish question (I got the phone a couple of days ago) but what is the best way to back everything up? Can you backup all your settings, installed apps, media and contacts so they can be re-instated after a factory reset?

have you any idea about push gmail problems.
sometimes i can see new mail in gmail but there is no notification??

Reading the GPS issues thread, it appears the 2.2 roll out has been postponed.
Yes... I really should be posting that info here.....

Will do when I get back.
Have to dash now and won'[t be back until later this evening (UK time).

hi guys, i upgraded to froyo using the reg hack. worked fine for me but what i was wondering is will I be able to upgrade to froyo uk version when it arrives or will I have to alter the reg again. if so can anyone tell me how to change the reg to uk version. I have unbranded 16gb galaxy s.
Thanks

The site that showed how to do the reg hack, has mentioned that that the froyo update has been pulled, possibly because so many people were doing the reg hack. No mention of when it will be back, maybe when they close the reg hack loophole.

just checked the samsungUK twitter, apprently they're going to start rolling out froyo for the galaxy s in november... barf

Yeah apparently the UK release is going to be end of november now, who want's to bet at the end of november we will be hearing end of december?

Does anyone know why the update is being continually pushed back? I'd be less impatient if they have given a reason for it.

I understand that all updates need thorough testing but having now pushed its release back 3 times...?

sorry to rant just want to know why its being pushed back :)

The thing they were about to release didn't fix the GPS problems and was just as laggy as ever.

Not that Samsung will ever admit that.

I know we are all so frustrated over the whole affair and in no way am I condoning Samsung but when you talk with them which I do and find even they are disillusioned you have to feel for their problem too.

Unfortunately Samsung is a brand and that means every single person associated is getting the brunt of the negativity.
Certain areas within Samsung though are too feeling the strain and I would like to feel we have some compassion to those that do the work but can not control the outcome.

My anger is towards certain individuals in P.R., Sales, Customer Services, and Support whose job it is to ensure information is passed out freely.
If they themselves are being silenced then they have a moral duty beyond their pay packet to make sure the higher chain is fully aware of the negativity of it's audience.

So yes, by all means lets discuss the problem but try and understand both sides of the argument.

I used the Kies hack and got froyo 2.2 as soon as I heard about it (the next day after it was released). I live in the UK and so far so good, no problems. 2.2 is running smooth. My SGS is unbranded and previously running stock 2.1. firmware, no lagfix, no root etc
