Froyo leak-mesmerize

Lurker
I got tired of waiting on us cellular. So I used ODIN to flash the leaked version of froyo on my phone EVERYTHING works great new youtube, better battery life, flash player, media hub. I wasn't sure about flashing the update but its nice. Moves faster too.

Make sure you guys thank the guys over at XDA for getting these things put together. I have the froyo update and am running the Dark Froyo theme on my mez and its awesome! Give it a try!!....but only if you are not afraid of bad things happening, because things may go wrong. Its a really easy process, just follow directions and read and reread before doing anything though!

I've been running it about 2 weeks and have been having some issues with freezing, and not sending texts. I usually pull the battery and it's ok but I have ben considering flashing back and waiting. It's a hard choice to make thoo cuz it's nice to have 2.2.

I've noticed that battery life hasn't been any better on the leaked EA11 version. The EB16 version is supposed to correct that, but I haven't had time to sit down and flash that, so I can't verify it. It has had a few stability issues with me from time to time, but a quick reboot seems to cure it, so I haven't been willing to flash back to stock since it has so many other improvements over 2.1

It says that you need to backup. If I plug the phone into my comp and copy all the data off can I just copy it back on afterward or do I need to use an app?

Depends on what you're backing up. Making a copy of the SD card contents will archive everything, but the flash does not wipe that stuff anyway.

Flashing the ROM will essentially "factory reset" your phone and wipe off contacts, calendar, text messages, etc.

If you want to keep any of that stuff, thats what you need to back up. If your contacts are all phone contacts, export them to your SD card. You can then import them back in once you're done.

So if I want to save things like apps and games I need to copy them from the phone to the computer so i can copy them back? Or are the apps stored on the SD card by default so they won't be erased? Sorry for the noob questions I just don't want to loose all my stuff.

As long as you registered your phone to a gmail account, that account will keep a record of all of the apps that you downloaded.

If you want to keep the data from any of them (If you've solved all of the levels on Angry Birds and don't wanna have to repeat them again) you need to backup the data.

Otherwise, if its not a big deal to start over, you can just start over and download the apps to your phone once the flash has been completed.

You can download apps like Appbrain App market to help keep track of your apps, too.
