HeyDid you try if flash movies played well on the phone?How is the GPS working?What else works better now?I will do an upgrade this weekend.Thx

I did the upgrade to Froyo 2.2 (Belgium). Works well. If the phone is slow at the beginning. Restart just your phone. Everything is working well including swype.
Before you upgrade, make sure you close every open program except Kies of course. And your battery has to be fully charged. Installation to SD-card and Taskmanager are 2 great features.
For playing flash I installed Skyfire.

I'm trying and trying, but what goes wrong?
Everytime I connect the phone to Kies, it says "this version cannot be updated"
It has now PDA:JG6/PHONE:JG3/CSC:JJ1
I'm a complete noob about android, I'm used to my iPhone, this is my girlfriends phone. Is there another way to get it running on Froyo?
@ kodaksken and DrewMove: How did you guys do this? And is it still in dutch, or not? Is it better than the eclair?

do you have the Mobistar version of the Samsung Galaxy Apollo I5801 ?
I have the same message when connecting the phone with KIES.
The update policy from Samsung is really terrible, first we had to wait so long to get the update while other received it weeks ago (Netherlands) and now that it finally arrived - assuming the first post is true - it does not work for the carrier version of the Apollo (which are probably 90% or more of the devices sold). Bummer !
Compared to HTC which devices are now upgraded to 2.3.1 or even 2.3.3 Samsung sucks big time !

I suggest you do do the following:
1. Remove Kies from your system, through add/remove programs or software (for W7: Programs & Features)
2. Restart your PC.
3. Go to the Samsung website and download the latest KIES software for your phone.
4. When you start the software, see of this is the latest version.
5. Start the software and connect your phone. If he still seems to connect and doesn't want to, close the software, disconnect your phone and reconnect, THEN start the KIES software.
6. You 'll get a popup that tells you if you want to upgrade...

still no update, i'm also a Mobistar client.
I really cant understand why Samsung has such a F##ked up policy on this upgrade?
upgrade is coming, but they wont tell you when, released in different countries at different times, then for only some people and not the rest in the same land......
or is it just me??

I suggest then to contact the Customer Support of Samsung.
Or you can go to a Samsung store (or Mobistar), they can help you update your system.

I'm having some problems updating via Kies.
It says that I can update my firmware, I connect my phone to the pc, follow all the instructions on screen, but when the computer is done downloading and preparing for the update, my phone's screen changes to the image of a floppy disk with 'downloading' on screen. This stays for about 5 min. when my phone restarts and it just works without any trace of it being updated.
Please help!

anyone any further with the upgrade?
still get the same mesage, and i cant sync my contacts with kies/gsm (although photos and videos do) , can this also be why i receive no upgrade?
samsung about as much as a chocolate watch, say now that its my computers fault, while i used to be able to sync before (possibly before last kies upgrade, not sure)

The issue to upgrade to froyo is due to Mobistart don't agree with Samsung to distribute the froyo release.
This information is coming from Samsung itself.
Samsung tell me to send them back my smartphone tin repair under warranty specifying the upgrade not possible from Kies and they will upgrade it under the waranty contract, I will see to do it and will come back here with news
