Root Froyo on a rooted phone?

WheelZ

Newbie
So, i have rooted 2.1 how do i upgrade to 2.2? kies tells me it cant upgrade the firmware on my device.

is this because i have rooted my phone? if so. how do i reflash to the original firmware to upgrade to 2.2 and whats the easiest process of backup?

You'll have to excuse my naivety but i did some searching and couldnt find anything specific enough.

Cheers

First of all, are you sure that froyo is available in your region?Root does not affect rom updating. But make sure that you have removed any lagfix first.

Thanx bud, i'm in aus, i was pretty sure i had read it was out here. i have lag fixed my phone so i take it i would need to undo that before i try to update firmware? how would i go about that exsactly?

It depends on which lagfix you have WheelZ. If it's Ryan ZA's OCLF you can do it within the app on the phone. If it's Voodoo lag fix go to there website. Just google Voodoo lagfix.

So, is it safe to assume that if i dont have anything in my app drawer that says anything about lag fix that it must be the voodoo one?

Well no because there is quite a few.

Do this,

left menu key,
Settings,
About phone,

scroll down and what does it say under Kernel Version? mine says curio@carton #Voodoo_lagfix_3.0
