Froyo update fails after flashing DI01

So i got my phone back to factory stock thanks to much of the help from these forums. Thanks guys! However.... lol. I am having a problem, that apparently flashing DI01 was the fix for. My froyo update is failing, with the IP_PREVIOUS_VERISON_FAILED or something like that. I read a post from Grahxen that for people having this issue, flashing to DI01, updating to EA28, then froyo was the fix. After flashing (several times), I get the first update (EA28) and it works fine. As soon as the phone reboots, it sees the 2.2 update. I can download the update, but it fails when updating, and I am stuck, on EA28. Any ideas, or is there a stock ROM that was created after the froyo update? BTW, the phone was once rooted, but if I am not mistaken, I thought the DI01 flash was supposed to wipe that. Thanks in advance for the help.
 
Still no luck getting the OTA update or the update.zip to take after the EA28 update apparently downloads and installs correctly. I have now tried flashing EB01, which is working and is froyo, but some things are just not right. Internet via WiFi is extremely slow on a FiOS 35 Mb symmetrical connection (Did a comparison with my wife's incredible 2, droid took about 3 seconds to load androidforums, while my fascinate took 13...) Also ran the SpeedTest.net app, and same results. Blazing fast on her phone, varied results with mine, as if the wifi is dropping in and out, but I can not see it. Not sure if I'm stuck in limbo here, but I was never able to hear from anyone if they have had the same problems with the DI01 all in one package. On a side note, I am trying to backup my current ROM so I can play a bit more, and CWM willl not boot into recovery for anything. I've done everything I know to do, and still no dice, just boots to stock recovery. Any suggestions? Thanks as always in advance!

In order to for CWM to stick after odin you need to flash a new kernal. Upon booting the stock kernal overwrites the recovery.
