Help FROYO Update - now NO ALL CAPS

My phone is an ATT Captivate shipped out of box with Android 2.1

I recently upgraded to 2.2 (FROYO) and noticed an immdeiate problem with text input.

With 2.1 keyboard input worked as one with the SHIFT key offering a 3-place toggle:

(1) small case
(2) First letter cap
(3) ALL CAPS

But once I upgraded, my phone no longer offered ALL CAPS as an option. The shift key now merely toggles between small case and first letter cap.

This problem is evident with any of the keyboards (qwerty, android 3x4) or in portrait or landscape...

Basically I can not engage ALL CAPS mode at all now.

Do a factory reset (it resets your phone to 2.2). Sometimes when doing updates, things get screwed up and a factory reset can fix problems. Just make sure you backup anything you don't want to lose.

will give it a shot - looking at backups first...Titanium seems well regarded but needs to be rooted, and Im not - another suggestion was Sprite backup (mixed reviews but seems to be doabl with my current access)

any suggestions?
