I have the my touch 4g and I hate the preloaded apps. I read to get rid of them you have to "root" ur phone. I dont even know what that means. Can I fudge my phone up by rooting it and not knowing how to do it correctly? If its not gonna hurt my phone can someone plz tell me how to root my phone? last my news preloaded app doesnt even work it goes black when i select that app, does anyone know how to fix it? Thank you sooo much in advance for helping me.

What brand/model Android phone do you have? With some phones rooting the device is as simply as installing a single app on the phone and clicking the permanent root button. With other phones it's a bit more involved.
To sliminate the preloaded app you can simply rename the applicable apk file if you know where to look for it. Otherwise you can install an app from the market like Titanium Backup or Bloat freezer to "freeze" the app for you. In the long run you are better off freezing the app rather than deleting it from the phone. The reason for this is that many OTA updates for these phones first check the state of the phone before they install. As part of this process many check for the existance of these types of apps. IF the pre-loaded app isn't there then the update won't always run.

When I got my MT4G, I hated the bloatware apps too. I read everything on Rooting and after a week I went for it. There were no issues and I have not looked back. I have not put a new ROM in YET as I am doing some app development at the moment.
Root it; ROOT IT!
I was also the envy (oops, sorry about that bad pun) of my 3 male co-workers, who also have android phones, at having done it.
