Frustrating Touch Screen Issues

Posting here as I seem to be having a very specific problem with my screen.
It works on and off at random - sometimes totally unresponsive, can't unlock phone (but oddly I can always hot power off button no matter how unresponsive screen is?), sometimes just small area in bottom left corner. Right now nothing on the home screen will respond except the back, home, and open apps button, but if I go into an open app then the screen works fine?
As far as I'm aware, have not gotten phone wet or too hot/cold. Problem is getting steadily worse. I love my Moto G, please help!

I did try that, and so far i seem to have no issues! although only time will tell, as like I said the screen works on and off. I thought it must be a hardware issue, as factory resetting the phone didn't solve the issue, but hopefully this has! Thank you very much :)

I assume you have never been root-ed.

If it fails ... do the Wipe Cache Partition again and then restart into Safe Mode. If it fails in Safe Mode then it is a hardware problem. If it doesn't fail in Safe Mode then it is caused by an app that you added. (If you don't do the Wipe Cache Part ion then the results of the Safe Mode test are inconclusive,)

Well...I don't know what rooting is, so I assume I've never done it. The wipe cache partition didn't work, so I tried rebooting in safe mode but still nothing :(

The wipe cache partition didn't

Wipe Cache Partition works and is the first required step in problem determination/possible correction.

Where in the process of invoking it did it go wrong? It may be the solution to your problem.

You posted in the forum for the original Moto G. What version do you have (Moto G, Moto G (2nd), Moto G (3rd), Moto G4)? They are all different.

You are not root-ed.

I assume you bought it through a known source and not a third-party.
I assume it is not in a case.
I assume id does not have an added screen protector.

Wipe Cache Partition didn't solve it.
Safe Mode didn't solve it.

The next step is Factory Data Reset and if that doesn't solve it it is time for replacement.

I bought it through Vodafone some time ago. I did have it in a case, but removing the case did not seem to solve the problem. I have already tried a factory reset with no joy, so I suppose I shall go about looking for a replacement.
Thank you for all your help :)

This thread was moved to this forum that is dedicated to discussing your phone.

It would defiantly appear that a replacement is your next step.
