FTP + Dropbox?

I have a GoDaddy hosting, which gives me unlimited amount of space and FTP access. So if I had a program, which acts the same as Dropbox or Google Drive, but saves/fetches everything via FTP silently, I could have an unlimited Dropbox! I could install it on my PC and Android phone and forget about any other storage service. Because anyway I have to pay for GoDaddy hosting, since it hosts my website, why should I pay for Dropbox too?

It wouldn't be unlimited. Even if your GD account has "unlimited" storage, it's "unlimited within reason". It's a lot more than Dropbox gives you for free, so your idea is a good one, but it's not totally unlimited. Start uploading a few terabytes and you're likely to get an email.

Ok, I promise not to upload more than one terabyte! :) Yes, I understand that they count on "most of our clients won't use unlimited space", but agreement is agreement.
Anyway, does your reply mean that this kind of application does not exist? Because if GD doesn't bother to give me a couple of terabytes, I will be more than happy :)

I know lots of FTP clients, including filezilla, but I am looking for something else. The program, that would act as Dropbox client, hiding FTP connection from me. I mean I install it, give it ftp host/user/password and folder to sync, then it does everything silently. With Filezilla, as well as any other FTP client, I need to connect and upload/download manually each time I want to transfer anything.

Bitsync is an interesting option, but it makes you keep your PC on.
