ftp server, work without being root?

Hi,

I just installed two ftp servers on my Android 2.3.3
I can connect to the server, but I cant copy there any files.

Unfortunatly til now on the HTC Wilfire S is no way to be root, therefore I am just wonder if a ftp server should work without to be root?

What exactly did you install?

And where are you trying to connect from/over?

328pd9, most FTP servers will open your root directory by default... you can't put files there if your phone isn't rooted, but you can navigate to your "sdcard" directory which shouldn't be read-only.
I'm using SwiFTP here, and I think I did even before I rooted my phone, but I'm not 100% sure.

I'm running SwiFTP on an unrooted HTC Incredible X with no problems.
