Help Full bars but not receiving texts/calls

Hi guys - ever since I upgraded to 5.0.1 I will find my phone intermittently stops receiving texts or calls. Its not a reception issue because I have full bars and is otherwise functioning fine. It's like the phone has just stopped receiving messages. The only reason I can tell is that they come through after I reset. When I speak to the people who tried to call while the phone was 'offline' they said that it was going straight to voice mail.

This happens daily. Anyone else have this issue?

I have a very similar problem. My phone usually gets lower bars than the phones around me (even m8s). And the strangest thing is that sometimes I have 2-3 bars but it is just worthless because I can not hear anything nor can the ones on the other side. I have always wondered if resetting the phone to factory would fix this, the thing is I have never wanted to go through the process.
