Help Full screen adverts appearing since Lollypop update

Lurker
My Wife's S5 (on o2) & Hudl has suddenly started showing adverts for Candy Crush / Clash of Clans when it wakes up from sleep. It doesn't do it all the time but irritating nether the less.
The S5 has no games installed on it, but the Hudl has so I'm guessing it's something tied to her google account. I have tried all the usual pop up ad detectors and anti virus / malware apps with no joy. The ad that pops up links direct to the playstore. Any help on getting rid of the ads would be great - Thanks

I've seen a couple of posts by people with the exact same thing (I'll link them if I come across them). Not sure if a solution has been found yet though

Thanks for the replies. It's not a chrome take over, the ad is just there when the phone / tablet wakes from sleep. It's the same as the previous case mentioned.

In everyones wisdom :) is it possible for the ads to spread via your google account? I'm wondering because she did download an app via the net (not the play store) on her tablet.

Not sure man. I've never heard of it anyway. I always thought an app would have to be installed on the device it's affecting.
I take it shes deleted the dodgy app now?
Does the phone have any apps installed from outwith the play store?

Yup. I'm stuck mate sorry.
All I can suggest is factory resetting both devices which is an obvious pita.
I'd love for someone to work out how this is happening though and find an actual cure....
