Help fullscreen popups

Lurker
hello! I have a chinese android phone Ulephone Power. I have recently had these popups (fullscreen) which cannot be deleted. I have to tap the screen popup and I then have to select which browser to use to go to this site. Of course I do not do so. I am then able to tap the return button to go to normal screen. I have antivirus suite and use ABbrowser The AV ( sophos) does not appear to be able to sort this one out. I have managed to trace the redirectwhich is....... clk.apxadtracking.net/iclk/redirect...... which takes me to Playstore.
The popups are for a game Play3 and another one is some battery saving app which I do not have a name for. Sophos AV has found a PUA: which is Android - Ewind which I have looked up and there does not seem to be a way of removing it.
Any suggestions which can help to solve this problem would be appreciated!
Thanks

Have you tried factory resetting it? And if that doesn't clear it, the adware/malware is in system/root. In which case you'll need to re-flash the manufacturer's firmware. Should be able to find that here... http://ulefone.com/software.html Can you read Chinese? Although I might be able to help there. :)

Have you been sideloading apps and games from outside of Google Play or Amazon Appstore, i.e. untrusted sources, bittorrent, whatever websites, etc.

Thanks for your reply! I have only loaded apps from play store and 1from amazon.I will try the factory reset. As for flashing this is not a road I want to go down. If the problem can be solved from root then maybe I should root the phone. Thanks anyway.

Yup, try factory reset, however if that doesn't clear the full-screen ads problem. Quite frankly the easiest and surest way to clear the adware/malware that's infecting /system, would be to re-flash it as per the Ulephone's instructions and software tools here...Windows PC required.

There's a few steps involved, but looks like if you follow their instructions exactly and study the screenshots, it should most likely work.

Otherwise..good luck in finding and trying to fix manually by yourself.

BTW I know about Chinese phones, I'm in China, have always avoided Chinese brands I've never heard of. And when it came around to buying a new phone recently, I bought a Samsung. :D
