I sure didn’t know this, and I would be furious if I was the homeowner. I can’t imagine any craftsman willing to let this go as “finished.”
The old axiom is: framers say “the drywallers will fix it” and the drywallers say “the painters will fix it.” I guess recessed lighting trumps them all, at least for ceilings. Sheesh.
