Our grandmother would try to talk us into eating a dab of Vicks. Nope. But if sick you got a tepid bath, bed would have fresh sheets and then the Vicks on chest and bottom of our feet and clean white socks.
On a weird note, there were 5 of us. If one got measles the other 4 were put with the sick one so we'd all get it and get it over with. Probably put our mother's in the penitentiary nowadays. Lol

There was only two kids in the house when I grew up. We lived in a small house so everyone was exposed to everything. Luckily, my older sister got all of the illness that went around and I managed to skate by without ever having anything. However, being the boy of the family, I was notorious for scrapes and cuts. My father's cure was Kerosene. I don't know if it was worse than mecurochrome, iodine, or merthiolate but it sure made me sorry I had a skinned knee. :)

I have a grandson who has the physical constitution you had. We've said he'll be the kid when they return to school to be the healthy as a horse, using his mask as a slingshot Typhoid Larry. He jacks with everyone and can't keep his hands off stuff that may be considered nuclear waste. Not even a sniffle. I raised him to he was almost 8 and I just didn't run him to the doctor or had 55 gallon drums of hand sanitizer. I think a lack of healthy dirt increases their immune system and lack thereof? Well I've seen some kids who've had so many antibiotics that they were and are perpetually snotty nosed. I'd heard about the kerosene but they'd have had to catch us. I still have bottles of methiolate from Mexico, skull on label no extra charge.

I grew up with 5 older siblings. All the kids in the neighborhood and surrounding area hung around or house. When one of them got something, dang near all did ... except me. I was constantly I'll as an infant (according to my mother) so I'll say that have my immune system the boost I relied on then and still do now. Didn't even get "walking pneumonia" from my wife when she had it as we were dating.

I lean towards the idea that we teach ourselves (and likewise our bodies) to rely upon manufactured products and it causes problematic reliance later.

Which is fine for diseases that have been around for many years. but Covid-19 is a novel disease that our immune systems have never seen before. Granted those with a stronger/better trained immune system will have a milder illness, (maybe even asymptomatic) but they WILL still catch it.

Perhaps, ... I've been busy non stop as if it hasn't hit (aside from a mild slowdown when everything was closed) and still working. Could be fortune of one manner or another, could be some other combination of factors. Bottom line is so far I've been fortunate and I'm pleased with that.

Bummer others are hit so hard.
