Flat Earth theory is more nuanced than most people think. In a Flat Earth the North Pole is in the middle of the disc while the Antarctic lies at the circumference, topped by a huge impenetrable wall of ice. So you can sail/fly around a flat Earth without falling off the edge. (I am NOT a Flat-Earther!)

I remember when I was a kid, Halloween decorations were carved pumpkins with a candle and costumes were some of my dad's old clothes that were cut off and ripped up to look like a bum. I was a bum every year. I don't recall purchased costumes. Maybe everyone around was just as poor as my family. :)
But corporate culture saw an opportunity.

It's now the second most profitable holiday for big biz.

I'm not against profit, but manufacturing costumes to be worn once and discarded seems to be a waste and a contributor to climate change to me.

As a duo, we get Halloween gigs, and dress up. But no store-bought costumes for us. We play the parties to make money :) and anything spent erodes our profits.

Notes ♫

I can remember a few purchased items (mainly props) but as an early teen I used theatric make-up for the added impact. I stopped doing that when someone called for an ambulance.
…and from there you launched into stage and screen? ;)
Kudos on that talent either way. Having done a few shows I know how crucial that is!
