When I was in the 4th or 5th grade they put a traffic counter across my residential street. My buddy and I sat on the curb taking turns striking the counter cable with a hammer all one evening. I have no idea now how much traffic we logged with that hammer but it was into the thousands... 🤣

We did the same thing. City police wanted to charge us with some kind of misdemeanor but finally wound up asking is not to do it again.
The police were always putting on the scare ya act but they never did much to us. Me and a buddy stole one of those yellow blinking lights off a road block and the cops stopped us as we were walking home with it. My buddy had the light in his coat and his chin kept blinking yellow as we talked to the cops.... they let us go.
