The Dewey decimal system ruled the library when I was a kid.

Research for term papers etc. resulted in about 30 books stacked up on the long library table with a bunch of paper book marks (before sticky notes existed). And you had to put them all back in the right place! Today, all done from a laptop from bed.
When I think about the school library, I think about a book I have from the local school. It was last checked out in 1965. It's The War Of The Worlds. I don't remember who owes all of that late fee
