Funny pictures!

I was one month short of my 14th birthday during the Bicentennial. I never imagined being here for the Semiquincentennial (which is literally Latin for "half of 500" but it works)... nor did I imagine that I would have, for several years, been reading aloud the Declaration of Independence at our County Courthouse as town criers did 250 years ago. This year is special: I've been invited to participate with our county's festivities. With that invitation, a whole new crowd who may - for the first time - learn of the desperate conditions that led once-loyal colonists to throw off the chains of their own oppressive government.

Not only that, but a lady who has attended my presentation for the last two years told me her church was having a special Independence Day Conference - and asked me to do my presentation to them! That's an entire other audience! My hope in it is that while I won't be around for America's Tricentennial, young people in the audience who hear me will be: and I hope to inspire them to do exactly what I'm doing for our 300th birthday. It would be great for this annual community service effort to spread from town to town, county to county, state to state.
