I think that our Pony Express driver would pull out a measuring tape, and stop delivery, as soon as it didn't make the height requirement.
Many years ago, the postal service made all new renters/buyers install mail boxes at the curb. All of the new additions have gang boxes on a corner. I and my neighbor are the only houses on my block that are grandfathered in. Our mail boxes are still on our houses. Am I sorry... not in the least. One of the very few perks of living in the same place for over five decades.
