FYI about 1More earbuds

This concerns me too. The problem for me is that while in principle you can put a DAC in the phone and output analogue audio via USB-C for those who want, my guess is that HTC will go digital only with an adapter containing a DAC and amp for those wishing to use existing headphones (seems to be the case for the Bolt). In which case the question isn't the audio capabilities of the phone but how good the components in the dongle are, and obviously nobody except those who understand this will want it to be anything other than cheap.

So as someone who cares about audio quality, isn't going to replace their headphones, and whose phone is getting old, I worry that if the mid-2017 flagship sticks to HTC's recent trend I'm going to have to choose between buying a 10 (with half of its software update lifetime gone) or an LG G6 (who do seem to be emphasising audio capabilities).

It's nice to know that somebody else thinks audio quality is important in a phone. Most of the reviews discuss the quality of the cameras. I haven't read one that said anything about the amazing earphone setup app and how it sets up each earphone you use to your ability hear. It was a great idea with fantastic results.

I sort of got an answer. Here is what I asked,
"Are you going to make an adapter(usb c) for your Triple Driver or will the Quad driver have an HTC version?"

And here is the answer I received,:
"We will be coming out with one in the future, I am sure of the date. In the mean time I provided a link an adapter for HTC, I hope it is what you are looking for.

I'm not really sure if they are going to release an adapter or a new earphone with a USB C plug. The adapter they showed me doesn't say it's compatible with the HTC 10 so I'm still not sure.

You're obviously right. Since it wasn't compatible with my "10", I didn't look close enough. I'm going to ask one more time and see. I'll post the new answer when I get it.

From what I've read, each driver is responsible for a specific frequency range. Usually, with three drivers, you get high frequency, tweeter; middle frequency, mid-range; and low frequency, woofer. If you add more drivers, you can either fine tune each driver for a specific range or duplicate certain ranges for more emphasis. For example; Tweeter, 2 Mid-range and a woofer. Or tweeter, midrange, woofer and subwoofer. There is currently a debate if more is really better or if more just lets you charge more. In my experience with quality speakers, more drivers give you better sound because each one can be fine tuned to a smaller frequency range. From the review I read, the Quad driver sounded better than the triple driver. However, that was one person's opinion.

For more technical reviews, just Google "1more quad driver review". I still find it hard to believe that they could sound better than the Triple Driver. But who am I to argue. I guess I can buy them, and if I don't think they're better, just return them. I'll have to see the price.
 
Same here. I've got the triple drivers and no complaints so far. I've even ordered food while riding the bus to work with no problem on either end. The music stopped while I made the call and restarted where I left off.

They really are very well designed. When I got them, I was amazed with the sound. When I realized the buttons worked too, what a bonus. I've been a long time user of HTC phones, and finding earphones that are 100% compatible had been a nightmare. That's why I had to let the group know about these.
 
Good to know that these buds work with the 10. I was concerned about them being 32 ohm. Having said that how is volume?
 
The volume is plenty for me. I'm 62 y/o so my hearing isn't perfect. I like my music a little loud so most of the time the headphones are set at a little below half volume. I can't really listen at maximum volume because they would blow out my eardrums. I have heard them at maximum once or twice by accident. The amazing thing to me was I didn't hear any breakdown of the sound. No hum, or buzz, just pure extremely loud music. To get the best listening experience out of the Triple Drivers, you must use the "10's" set up program. It only takes 5 minutes or less and makes a remarkable difference. If you haven't purchased them yet, be aware that a new Quad Driver model can be preordered. I've never heard them, but I read one person's review says they are even better than the Triples. Of course there is a $100 difference in price and it's difficult to imagine the sound being twice as good. I really love the triple drivers, and I don't think you can go wrong with them. Good luck.
 
I've been toying with the purchase since first learning about the triples. They are right at the upper end of what I'd be willing to spend and probably should have made the purchase when they were $84 just prior to Christmas.

Be aware of 3 things before you buy them.
1. Amazon ships them quicker than 1More and if you're a Prime member it's 2 days & free.
2. Check with 1More before you pick the gold or silver. A few months ago, only the silver was compatible with the "10".
3. IMHO, you won't be sorry. ;-)

I just read on head-fi.org one person wrote he got a free pair of duel driver earphones for pre-ordering the quads.

Yes it is. I'm not up on why you need a DAC. I have the Android version for my "10" and love them. I remember someone mentioned a DAC so I that's why I posted it. My reason for starting this post was I never could find a decent pair of earphones that were 100% compatible with any HTC phone. I had purchased a set from HTC for my "10" and even they couldn't adjust the volume. When I found that these worked great and the sound with the "10" was amazing, I wanted to let others know.
