FYI: Google Keep widget is a battery hog

Since google runs my entire life, I was excited about the latest incarnation of Google Keep. I use it for checklists and notes all the time now. However I sadly have to report that the Widget for Google Keep is a confirmed battery hog.

With the Widget, in a 4 hour period, Google Keep kept the phone in wakelock for over an hour. And this was without even making any changes that would require it to sync or do any work. This issue is exasperated by the poor signal strength at my office.

Without the widget, that hour of wakelock has been reduced to 4 minutes. Right in line with other google services that sync.

If you are a Keep user, I suggest dispensing with the Widget until it is redesigned. The app is pretty quick so I don't feel this is a huge loss.

Ive actually been finding out at times that the app itself has been draining my battery at times too.

If you uncheck Google Keep in the account sync settings, it will probably fix that too.

I actually just did this because i keep getting bad readings from it, this last time google keep was awake around 40 mins with my screen time of only 1hr 1/2. And I only used keep a few times for a few minutes. Def a bug, or at least i would think so for such a plain nothing to it app to be running so much and draining battery.

Very strange. I use Keep with widget on my S3,S4 and Note2, never experiencing any changes in battery life. I tested all my devices for the past 24 and there is no difference at all. It sync with all the other services in same manner, with and without it.
